(the fan favorite is “Dog Days are Over” and you should listen to
that too but I’m going to make you hear my favorite...I do a
pretty awesome hippy drunk dance to it.):
“Cosmic Love”

Florence
+ the Machine features Florence, the hottest and only redhead slinging
a harp that will ever make me head bang. For lack of a more original
statement, she fucking rocks. Honestly. Her music is slightly tough to
explain but if you took some Irish harp player, Sarah Mclachlan, Tori
Amos, put them all on PCP, made them run into each other, and then put
it all into a bag of Skittles. Thats the only way I can describe it in
writing that makes sense to me. But this is music and these lyrics are
so crazy and energetic, you can’t help but pay attention. It’s so
unique and well put together it thrives with originality and
personality.
From the perfect pause in the head-busting opening track “Dog Days are
Over” to the slightly more conventional “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)”
which is a harp-laden dance chorus anthem. From the drunk punk rock
and roll of “Kiss With A Fist” to the humorous “My Boy Builds
Coffins.” Tying it all together for is my personal rhythmic and reverb
drenched favorite, “Cosmic Love,” you cannot, you will not, go wrong
with this album.
You really can’t quite describe her to fit in anywhere. Yes, she’s a
female pop vocalist and these are pop songs. They are so fun,
interesting, and off the wall; but I just can’t fit lump her in to
sound like anyone else. You really just have to listen to hear how
awesome and fresh this girl happens to be. Florence (already is I
think) will hopefully be the next big thing so we can all see and hear
more of her. God bless the gingers.
